What is acupuncture – reflexotherapy?

Acupuncture - reflexotherapy

Acupuncture is one of the best known branches of complementary medicine. Acupuncture, reflexotherapy is the method of treatment in which special ultra-thin needles of different length are inserted at biologically active points. Acupuncture has originated in China for over 5000 years ago and is a very important part of traditional Chinese medicine (also called Eastern). This method today is also very popular in the Western world. A lot of discussion in the Western countries is held about the mechanism of acupuncture action and efficacy. In some cases it is stated that acupuncture has not any effect, in other cases that its effect to people depends on the extent they believe in it, and in some other cases that acupuncture acts reflexively as well as induces release of biologically active substances and has an impact on the changes of an electromagnetic field. It is recognized that the single theory fully explaining the mechanism of acupuncture action does not exist.
