Breast ReductionBreast Reduction

Breast Reduction is mostly used for women who have disturbances caused by big and heavy breasts: pain in the back, sweating and inflammation of the skin under the breasts, and changes in posture or breathing difficulties. After breast reduction, these problems are solved and an appropriate size and shape of the breasts is formed.

Am I a good candidate for Breast Reduction?

We recommend Breast Reduction for you if:

  •  You have disproportionally large breasts compared to your body;
  •  Your breasts are large and sagging, or the nipples are pointed down;
  •  You suffer from large breasts causing symptoms of pain in your back, neck or shoulders, increased sweating or inflammations under the breasts;
  •  Large and heavy breasts disturb your activities.

This operation can be performed at any age, but we recommend that you wait until the breasts are completely matured and shaped.

During consultation, you will tell the plastic surgeon what type of breasts you would like to have, and what you would like to change. It will help the surgeon understand, summarize your desires, and determine whether you are a good candidate for this operation.

Why do you need a consultation?

During consultation, the plastic surgeon at GK Clinic will examine your breasts, consider the size and shape of the breasts, the quality of your skin, and the condition and location of the nipples and areolas. It is very important to inform the doctor if you have had any other breast operations or a mammography examination. You should also warn the doctor if you are planning to lose weight, because breasts also become smaller when weight is lost. The operation is recommended after weight stabilization.

The plastic surgeon will inform you about all the advantages and disadvantages of the operation. You will also have an opportunity to show and tell him about the desired size and shape of your breasts, and the new location of the nipples.

You should also mention what medications you take, past operations, or if you have abnormal blood pressure or other diseases, for example, diabetes mellitus or thyroid pathology. You should not forget to talk about taking any drugs, which can diminish blood coagulation, and any allergies.

Does this operation require any special preparation?

You might need to undergo a mammographic or ultrasound breast examination Mammography or Echoscopy. Your doctor will decide it during consultation.

You should lower the number of cigarettes if you smoke. It is also recommended that you not use Aspirin or other drugs that might diminish blood coagulation.

How is Breast Reduction performed?

The operation is performed under general anesthesia. The duration is 2-4 hours. After the excess skin is removed, the nipple along with the areola is moved to a new upper location, and the shape of your breasts is formed. If the areola is too big, we can reform it to smaller size. You will have to spend 2-3 days after the operation under the observation of GK Clinic specialists.
