What is CO2 laser skin resurfacing?

What is the recovery time for CO2 laser skin resurfacing?

The skin swelling remains up to one week following the procedure. It is especially prominent during the first 3 days. The skin weeps tissue fluids during the first days therefore small crusting may form. We will administer you appropriate moisturing ointments.
A new superficial skin – epidermis –is formed during the first 7 days. Your new skin red colour will disappear in several weeks. Sometimes redness remains for several months. Usual makeup that contains sun filtre masks it untill it disappears. Temporarly a small redness may appear around the eyes. Pigmentation changes may accur in the case of darker ski types.
The final result will be seen in twelve months following proceudre and will continue and get stronger through several years.

Do I need special skin care after CO2 laser skin resurfacing?

Skin care is especially important following this procedure. Since the new-formed skin is very sensitive to any creams or UV rays, it is very important to follow physicians instructions. Only cosmetics for babies can be used one month following procedure. UV rays may be avoided one year following procedure.
