What is facial rosacea (flushing)?

Blood vessels of microscopic diameter form facial rosacea (flushing). Usually, the number of these vessels is much higher than normal, and they are so small that they are not visible by the eye or sometimes even by special optics. What you mostly see is just a redness of all the facial skin or only a few areas – nose or cheeks.

How do the progressive kinds of treatments used in our GK Clinic work?

The modern, new impulse light and laser technologies used nowadays affect every blood vessel with a special amount of energy that has a minimal affect on the skin surrounding the target. During this kind of treatment, laser or light energy produced by special equipment is directed straight to the chosen capillary or blood vessel. This energy (heat) is absorbed by the blood vessel, and then its walls stick together irreversibly. Combined variable lasers and IPL techniques affect blood vessels of different diameters in different depths of the skin. Therefore, this treatment can be used for very difficult cases which could not be corrected before.

Why does facial rosacea (flushing) appear?

All the reasons are not known. The most common reasons are: heredity, oral contraceptives, hormone therapy, sunburn, and the aging process. Malformations can also be caused by rosacea or other skin diseases.

Am I a good candidete for this treatment?

How is laser or IPL treatment performed?

Treatment differs according to characteristics, localization and the spread of rosacea.Your doctor will direct laser or IPL beam using a special headpiece of the device to the lesion.Anesthesia is not usually needed. Some patients feel a light prick or heat during the procedure.

Does the recovery period require any special care?

Discomfort is minimal after this procedure. The results depend on the method of treatment chosen by the doctor. After some types of treatment using lasers or IPL light, a swelling or redness may appear, but it lasts no longer than few hours. Special ointment should be applied on the operated area, and it is also recommended that you avoid sunlight or use special sun protection. The final results of the treatment are clearly seen at once, or 15-25 days after the procedure. It is recommended that you avoid factors that might influence the dilatation of blood vessels – bathhouse, solarium, intensive exercising, alcohol, etc. for 10-14 days after this procedure.

How many procedures do you need?

A few procedures are usually used to get the desired results.

Can rosacea (flushing) flushing return following the procedure?

Rosaceausually disappears forever. The optimal desired results will last if you follow the doctors’ recommendation – avoid sun light, baths and other factors that might influence the expansion of blood vessels. The new microscopic capillaries might dilate but this process is very slow.
